March 8th, International Women’s Day, is much more than just a date. It is a reminder, a tribute, and a call to action. On this day, we walked together through the heart of Mytilene, sending a powerful message for equality, respect, and the strength of women’s voices. Wearing white masks and holding placards filled with messages, we made our presence known and stood up for a fairer world for all women.

Our action was simple, yet deeply meaningful. All the women from the Marilyn Boutique team walked silently through the market of Mytilene, holding a banner and a thought for every woman who has been hurt, afraid, or silenced.
Without words, and yet within that silence, there was a voice too powerful to ignore. It was an act of honor, a gesture of solidarity, a strong “we are here” for those who can no longer be.
Our silence was not passivity. It was a stance, a statement, and an act of participation. It was our way of showing that violence is not a private matter and that no woman should feel alone. With each placard bearing a personal message and a place in the center of the city, we took a small step toward big change.
Each placard we held carried its own voice. Simple words, filled with strength and truth. Messages that spoke of respect, freedom, and the right to feel safe. Here are some of the messages we wrote:
No more silence
No means no
Together we are unstoppable
No more patriarchy
I am not your weakness
Respect, not fear
Change starts with us
We are not the weaker sex
Women change the world
With these messages in our hands, we stood in silence but we were not invisible.
This silent presence of ours was a simple yet meaningful act. We didn’t stand there as professionals we stood as people. As citizens who refuse to accept injustice and violence as part of everyday life.
Through our silence, we made it clear: we see, we hear, and we stand beside all women. Because change begins with small, human acts and it continues every time we choose to not look away.
